The Special Enquiry Squad sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided a house in Srinagara on Friday and arrested a punter who was involved in IPL cricket betting.
Mohan Kumar, 33, was arrested for organising a betting racket for a match that was placed on Friday.
The betting transactions were done through mobile phones, police said.
Mohan had organised betting for all IPL matches from the beginning. However, he had not paid any money to the winners.
People were not coming forward to file a complaint because betting is an offence. They were afraid the police would taken action against them.
The CCB police, however, got a tip-off and raided the house. They managed to arrest Mohan and seized an iPhone, Rs69,000 cash, and two other mobile phones worth Rs1.50 lakh.
Mohan’s friend and accomplice Jagadish managed to escape during the raid.
