The second International Auto Show 2011 (IAS-2011), which was inaugurated on Thursday at the Palace Grounds offered a perfect international platform for domestic companies and manufacturers to exhibit their latest products and services and thereby position their brand in the global market.

The presence of overseas participants has added a global appeal to the event. The show will provide an opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to network and enlarge business opportunities in the industrial market.

One of the companies, iTrans Technologies has come up with a new mobile technology to secure and track bikes. The innovation, termed ‘Tcop’ has an important feature that aids in retrieval of the bike, if stolen or misused.

According to Mallesh Reddy, CEO of iTrans Technologies, the GSM- based technology, which is a first of its kind in India, is user-friendly. “A SIM card is activated in the bike, which on detection of intrusion (theft or abuse) automatically sends a ‘security alert’ SMS to the bike owner. The SMS has details such as location, time and movement status of the bike, thus tracking the bike continuously and helping in securing it without much difficulty,” he said.

Another safety device at the exhibition is the car reverse parking sensor by Redsoul. This device can be fixed on the car’s rear, while a mirror will be placed on top of the rear view mirror. The sensor will then take pictures of the vehicles or places that are behind the vehicle. The sensor is claimed to capture sound signals as well.

The special attraction of IAS-2011 includes the stunt show by Ghost Ryderz, traffic and insurance awareness programme, dirt track, vintage car/bike rally and fashion show. The auto show will be on till January 9.
