Three days after the death of two PUC students, another tragedy struck Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) when a 23-year-old techie was run over by one of its buses.

The incident occurred around 7pm on Sunday when the deceased, Sampath Suresh, a resident of Kodigehalli and native of Visakhapatnam, was heading home in his two-wheeler. When he reached HAL (law and order) police station, a BMTC bus, which was tailing him, hit the two-wheeler. Suresh lost control of his vehicle and fell on the road before the bus run over him.

Police inspector L Nagesh said that the bus driver fled the spot.  “We are making efforts to arrest the driver. The bus has been seized,” he said.

Suresh was employed with a private firm located in Sigma Tech Park in Whitefield. He was staying with his friends in Kodigehalli. His relative reached the city on Monday. The body was handed over to family members after post-mortem examination in Bowring Hospital.

50-yr-old security guard killed
In another incident, a 50-year-old security guard of a private firm was killed after being hit by a private school bus on Magadi Road in Sunkadakatte under Kamakshipalya police station limits on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Neelakantha, a resident of Kareemsab Layout in Laggere. The incident occurred near Kebbihalli junction on Magadi around 9.30 am when he was on his way to office situated in Annapoorneshwari Nagar.

The bus, coming from behind, hit Neelakantha’s two-wheeler, making him lose control of the vehicle. The bus then ran over Neelakantha, killing him instantly. Kamakshipalya traffic police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital. The private school bus has been seized. A case has been registered and investigation is on. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination.
