After launching the Mi 6X last month, Xiaomi has launched a new smartphone in China called Redmi S2. The budget smartphone comes with a full screen display, features dual-rear cameras, and AI-powered front cameras to help you capture better selfies. The smartphone will be available in China in three different color options of grey, pink, and gold.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 price

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be offered in two variants – the one with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage priced at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,500), and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant priced at RMB 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,800). The smartphone is expected to launch in India soon, but there is no word on an exact launch date yet.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 specifications and features

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99-inch HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 1440×720 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC that is well known for its performance and battery life.

In the photography department, the Redmi S2 comes with dual camera setup at the back, which includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Both the cameras work in tandem and allow you to add DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. For selfies and video calling, there is a 16-megapixel AI-powered front camera which comes with a dedicated portrait mode to add those bokeh effects to your selfies.

To keep things ticking, the smartphone is armed with a 3,080mAh battery. In terms of security, the smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back, and face unlock feature too.

With connectivity options such as 4G LTE with VoLTE, dual-SIM card slots, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS, the smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 skin on top. It also includes iPhone X-like gesture control support, allowing you to disable the on-screen Android navigation buttons, and make the most of the full-screen display.
