On the eve of the finals, Gautam Sheth speaks to Heroes’ all-rounder Nicky Boje

One man who can put a spoke in the wheel of the Lahore Badshahs is Nicky Boje. The 35-year-old South African leads the wickets and runs table for Hyderabad Heroes.  He is almost like a one-man army.

“The ICL has given me an ideal platform,” Boje told DNA.

On the eve of the first final against Lahore Badshahs, Boje was cautious but confident. “Badshahs are hitting the ball around the park a lot. We will have to keep them tied down,” said a confident Boje. The rampaging Badshahs must take note of what Boje is capable of doing. He showed how dangerous he can be against the Mumbai Champs.
Heroes were 45 for 3 against the Champs when Boje walked in. He was in a murderous mood.

Boje unleashed his repertoire of big strokes on way to making 88 off just 49 balls. The knock included fives sixes and eight fours. Boje took his team to a record 214 in 20 overs.

“I definitely fill the role of an all-rounder in the team. Out team is full of all-rounders but each one of us have a definite role to play,” said Boje.

The South African is impressed by some of the local talent. He particularly liked what he saw of Ibrahim Khaleel.

“He has become a better wicket-keeper as the tournament has progressed and also played some solid innings with the bat,” Boje said.
