Proper work conditions, better compensation and good infrastructure have been long-pending demands of the examiners of Mumbai University. And now the varsity has decided to implement a revised remuneration for teachers who report for the Central Assessment Programme.
“The management council of the university has decided to increase the CAP allowance. It will be in place from this year,” said a university official.
Accordingly, the remuneration of examiners from Mumbai has been increased from
the current Rs80 to Rs175. Besides the daily CAP allowance, teachers also get a travel allowance.
The compensation problem relating to outstation examiners has also been resolved and it has been decided to pay them Rs225 as CAP allowance as against the current Rs110 per day.
“It’s definitely a step in the right direction though we did not receive what we had
demanded.
“We are disappointed that the vice chancellor could not prevail upon the finance committee to accept what we had asked for. But we appreciate the efforts of the management council,” said Bombay University and College Teachers Union (Buctu) member Madhu Paranjpe.
