In a case on revenge killing, a sessions court on Monday sentenced four members of a family to life imprisonment and acquitted one. They were on trial for murdering a 22-year-old man at Powai in 2007.
According to prosecution, the five accused killed Yogesh Rana, 22, a history-sheeter in broad daylight on July 30, 2007 using sharp weapons. Police said Rana and his associate who lived in the same locality had allegedly killed the brother of the convicted.
Additional sessions judge NP Dhote convicted Guffran Ahmed Siddiquie, Majid Sheikh, Eshaan Siddiquie and Joshad Alma Siddiquie (father of Eshaan and Guffran), and acquitted Wasiullah
Siddique for lack of evidence. Rana had allegedly killed Abid Ali Sheikh in 2006
and the motive of the murder was revenge.
