The Toulouse killer filmed his seven murders in detail and was heard at one attack saying, "You kill my brothers, now I'm killing you".

Strapping a camera to his body, the self-styled al-Qaeda militant Mohammed Merah filmed each attack in its entirety, said Francois Molins, France's leading anti-terrorism magistrate who is overseeing the investigation into the killing of three soldiers, three Jewish children and a teacher.

The 23 year-old, who was killed by a sniper in a fierce gunfight with police in the south-western city of Toulouse, used a GoPro camera to record his attacks.

Detectives viewed the "extremely explicit" scenes on Wednesday after Merah told police he had given the footage to an acquaintance during the 32-hour stand-off.

In the first murder of a paratrooper who he lured by pretending to be interesting in buying his motorbike, he is seen "asking the vendor about his military qualities and then shooting him dead with two bullets, saying, 'You kill my brothers, now I'm killing you'."

In his second attack, in which two paratroopers were killed and a third critically wounded, the prosecutor recounted an "extremely violent scene" in which he can be seen "making his getaway on his scooter to cries of 'Allah Akbar' [God is great]," Mr Molins said.

"And one sees him commit the murders at the Jewish school on Monday morning", in which a Jewish teacher, his two sons and a seven-year-old girl died.

Merah told police that he posted the footage on the internet but "we don't know where or how or when", said Mr Molins. GoPro is a waterproof mini-camera used mostly for filming sports and has a wide-angle lens, recording up to six hours with a large memory card.

On Wednesday, Mr Molins indicated that Merah had been at least partly converted to ultra-violent jihad by staying at home and watching fundamentalist beheadings on the internet "for hours".

One mother told Le Telegramme newspaper that he had forced her teenage son to do likewise.
