Talks manifestation of our resolve to settle issues: Pak's Gilani

Pakistani prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday said the Indo-Pak foreign secretary level talks were a step towards resolution of all outstanding issues between the two nuclear armed South Asian neighbours.

Talking to the Pakistani minister of state for foreign affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and President AJK Raja Zulfqarnain Khan at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, Gilani said the talks were manifestation of the resolve of the government for peaceful co-existence in the region.

Meanwhile, foreign secretary Nirupama Rao on Friday called on Hina Rabbani Khar and conveyed her greetings from minister for external affairs SM Krishna.

In a meeting held at the foreign office before the start of the second round of secretary level talks, Rao said her government looked forward to the minister of state’s visit to New Delhi next month.

Khar conveyed to Rao the importance Pakistan attaches to the ongoing dialogue process and to the improvement of Pakistan-India relations. She said she was looking forward very much to her meetings in New Delhi.
