Rolon honour for Ashwin

Team NK Racing’s Ashwin Sundar hogged the limelight winning the Formula Rolon category on Day 1 of the second JK Tyre National Racing championships at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on Saturday. Akhil Kushlani of Team Red Rooster had to be content with second spot, while Amritrajit Ghosh also from Team Red Rooster settled for the third spot.

Local lad Prithveen Rajan was the centre of attraction for the racing enthusiasts when he triumphed in race 1 of the Formula LGB Swift category. Bangalore boy Sudarshana Rao of Team Rams Racing finished second followed by Sudarshana’s teammate Akhil Devarag.

But when it came to endurance, S. Narendran pipped all to top the chart. Narendran sealed the fate by completing 36 laps with a timing of 45 minutes and 59 seconds. Sudhanand Rajan from Team Wallace Sports, who completed same laps with a timing of 46 minutes and four seconds, stood second on the podium. The third place was grabbed by Narendran’s teammate Akhil Devarag with 36 laps in 46 minutes and 43 seconds.
