A broken arm and a twisted bone could not deter 12-year-old Anuj Agarwal from playing the game he loves.

A student of Army School, Colaba, Anuj, who plays as a goalkeeper, was injured in a practice session last month and his dream of representing his school for the very first time was shattered.

He misjudged a ball coming towards him and lunged to his left, fracturing his left arm. The doctor told him not to play for at least a month. However, this class 7 student was determined that nothing would stop him from playing in his first MSSA inter-school football tournament. His patient wait and determination did not go in vain.

Anuj’s condition improved at a rapid pace and he was seen eagerly taking part in his team’s warm-up session before their match against Bombay International at the Azad Maidan on Thursday.

Fortune favours the bold and this came true in Anuj’s case. As the match was cancelled, Anuj got more time to recover.

Now he is more than likely to be in the final 11 when the fixture will be held. However, he will not be playing in his usual position as a goalkeeper but will be a part of the defence. He will finally live his dream!
