The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Management Group (IMG) are on the same page vis-a-vis the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The IMG’s previously troubled contract with the Indian board over the running of the IPL is “safe for now”.

A highly placed source in the BCCI confirmed to DNA that the  much-publicised meeting between the board’s top brass and IMG officials on Monday “went off very well”. The board officials, however, refused to divulge the points of discussion.

“We cannot discuss with the media what we discussed with them. It is not for media consumption,” one BCCI official said without elaborating.

He, however, confirmed that at this stage, the Rs27 crore-a-year contract with the sports management firm, which has been involved in conceptualising and implementing the IPL, is not in danger.

The meeting was called by the board to discuss ‘certain issues’ relating to the IPL.

The media has speculated that those ‘certain issues’ were charges slapped by the board against suspended IPL commissioner and chairman Lalit Modi.

None of the board officials, however, came on record about the exact nature of discussion.

It may be recalled that the BCCI had terminated its contract with IMG in August 2009, stating that the ‘amount charged by the agency was disproportionate to the services’ rendered, after paying them Rs43 crore for first year and Rs33 crore for the second year.

After a protest from Lalit Modi and some franchise owners, the BCCI signed the contract again, this time for Rs27 crore. But the fate of the contract has been in doubt since Modi’s suspension. Modi is known to be a champion of IMG’s cause.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that there could be a meeting of the IPL governing council next month. It will be the first meeting since Modi's suspension on April 25.

The agenda for the meeting is not known, but one official said there are a few pressing issues which need to be resolved by the governing council.

Meanwhile, board president Shashank Manohar and secretary N Srinivasan held a meeting with officials from the Union government in New Delhi on Tuesday regarding the 2011 World Cup in New Delhi.
