As Australia won their fifth World Cup title on Sunday, thanks to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, on Sunday, they achieved a few milestones in the process.

Australia also managed to halt New Zealand's winning streak in the tournament, and also ensured that skipper Michael Clarke bowed out of ODI cricket on a high.

Here is a list of trivia post Australia's memorable triumph

1) This was New Zealand's first loss of the tournament...quite a heartbreaking one at that!

2) Apart from five World Cup trophies, Australia now have won eight ICC Tournaments in all (two Champions Trophies and a one-off ICC Super Series cup).

3) Australia's win made them the second team to win the trophy on home soil, after India's win in 2011.

4) Steven Smith becomes the first batsman in World Cup history to notch up five consecutive scores above 50.

5) Quite predictably the 91112 strong attendance was the highest in five matches in the tournament.

6)  Darren Lehmann has now  joined compatriot Geoff Marsh as the second player to win a World Cup both as a coach and a player for his country.

7)The final had the second-highest number of ducks with six batsmen dismissed for naught (Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson, Luke Ronchi, Matt Henry, Trent Boult and Aaron Finch). The 1979 final has the record for having most number of ducks in all

8) Martin Guptill finished as tournament top-scorer, with 547 runs from nine matches at an average of 68.37. He scored two centuries and a fifty, and of course the memorable double century against West Indies.

9) Trent Boult joins Colin Croft (West Indies, 1979 final) and Saleem Malik (Pakistan, 1992 final) as the third player to remain unbeaten on zero in a World Cup final.

10) Quite interestingly, Australia now have won the World Cup on all five continents to be exact!
