Doing it the Mahi way : Winning match in last over and collecting £300,000 for charity

Indian ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni extended his support to the British Army by playing the inaugural T20 cricket match fundraiser, 'Cricket for Heroes' held at The Kia Oval, London on Thursday.

Playing for Help for Heroes XI, MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag were the star performers of their side comprising of Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridiand South African ace Herschelle Gibbs, England Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss.  

Rest of the World comprised of Brendon McCullum, Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene and Graeme Smith as well as players such as Kiwis Scott Styris and Daniel Vettori.

Graeme Smith and Matthew Hayden opened the innings for Rest of the World XI. Darren Gough bowled out Smith in 4th over to make way for Brian Lara. MS Dhoni teamed up with Graeme Swann to send Hayden packing at 36. ROW XI were 76/2 in 11 overs, reports Sportskeeda

Mahela Jaywardene and Brendon McCullum held the fortress until Dhoni caught McCullum behind the wicket. ROW XI scored 158/6 in 20 overs.

Virender Sehwag and Andrew Strauss came out to take the strike for HFH XI. Their batting fireworks put HFH XI at 63 for no loss in mere 6 overs.

After quick fall of wickets, MS Dhoni joined Herschelle Gibbs amid the crowd chanting his name!

Gibbs was soon dismissed and HFH XI needed 82 runs off 10 overs. Sticking to his true style, Dhoni played some brilliant shots, took the match to the last over, and finally finished with a boundary! Expectedly, Dhoni was named Man of the Match.

Managed by the legendary Sir Ian Botham, Help for Heores raised almost £300,000.
