Dada for President: Sourav Ganguly gets West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's seal of approval

“We are going through a phase of crisis. This is an emotional period for all of us, after the sad demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya. Abhishek is the new entrant into the board and we are going to stand by him through the thick and thin. We are going to start the work immediately as we have a match on September 8,” said Ganguly.

“I want Sourav Ganguly to be the captain of the team,” announced Banerjee at the state secretariat – Nabanna. 

Sourav Ganguly said: “We are going through a phase of crisis. This is an emotional period for all of us, after the sad demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya. Abhishek is the new entrant into the board and we are going to stand by him through the thick and thin. We are going to start the work immediately as we have a match on September 8."
 
Ganguly, will take over as the President of the board and Abhishek (Jagmohan Dalmiya) will step into the shoes of Ganguly, as the Joint Secretary of CAB. This is for the first time, that the Chief Minister selected the President of CAB. Traditionally, it’s the governing body, which conducts an election and elects the President. (Read: Sourav Ganguly to be CAB President)

 The speculations started doing the rounds on Wednesday when the former Indian cricket team captain, who is the current Joint-Secretary in the board of CAB, met the West Bengal at the state secretariat along with Dalmiya’s son Abhishek.  Ganguly had met West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, on Wednesday. He was quoted saying: "I am thankful to my colleagues for giving me this responsibility. If the 117 members agree, I will take over the responsibility, will try and do the best."
