CA urges Facebook to close down page threatening to attack Broad at Boxing Day Ashes Test

Cricket Australia (CA) is reportedly attempting to close down a Facebook campaign threatening to ‘tackle’ England bowler Stuart Broad at the Boxing Day Ashes Test match if the page received 50,000 ‘likes’

The owner of the page, which currently has more than 100,000 ‘Likes’, has also vowed to throw either a beer or meat pie at Broad’s face in the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where the Test will take place

According to News.com.au, taking the threats seriously, CA has contacted Facebook to shut the page down and has also alerted authorities in Melbourne

Stating that CA will not tolerate anti-social behaviour, or anyone encouraging it, at any cricket match, the board said in a statement that anyone considering acting in this way is not welcome at the cricket and offenders will be subject to criminal charges and fines at all venues

The statement further said that fines for entering the field of play vary from venue to venue but range in thousands of dollars per offence.
