Google is hosting it's Fall 2015 event in San Francisco today and, aside from new Nexus devices and Chromecast 2, the latest update for Android 6.0 titled "Marshmallow" is also expected to be officially announced. While the official OTA update is only expected to roll out starting October 5, we'll get another look at all the features we saw at Google I/O earlier this year. Here's our list of the top features in Android Marshallow you need to know about.

App permissions
In Android 6.0, Google will now let users pick and choose the kind of system access they want each app to have. There are eight separate sections, like location, camera, contacts etc., and you can enable (or block) permission for each group individually for every app you install. For instance, you originally had to allow all permissions required in order to install an app, but now you can (for example) allow an app to access your location but not your camera. A notification will pop up whenever you try to use a feature that requires permission, instead of asking for them at install time, and you can even go back and change those settings later.

Custom Chrome Tabs
A lot of apps will also have customised Chrome tabs now. Apps like Pinterest, for example, that would earlier minimise the app itself to open a link that you click on, will now open a Chrome tab for that page within the app. autocomplete and saved passwords are expected to transfer seamlessly to these in-app pages, which can also now be customised with special buttons and colour themes from the app.

Android Pay
Android Pay is Google's answer to Apple Pay. It's a digital payment method that use Near-field Communication (NFC).Once you add your card details into the app, it creates a sort of virtual account to make your payments. That way, you can just tap your phone to the NFC-enabled device being used to bill you and your payment is done, all without sharing your actual card number. This also ties in with the fingerprint scanners on the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, which can be used to very your transaction. Google says Android Pay will be accepted in 700,000 stores in the US with NFC payment.

Doze
Another addition coming to Android Marshmallow is the new Doze feature. The OS will use the phone’s in-built sensors to detect when it hasn’t been moved for a long period of time, suggesting that it’s not in use. The device then goes into a sort of low-power hibernation state, although alarms, notifications, and calls will still chime. But in doze mode, Google says the device’s battery can last up to twice as long.

Android Marshmallow is expected to start rolling out October 5 to the existing Nexus 5, 6, 7, and 9, and the new Nexus devices will ship with Android 6.0 out-of-the-box. Marshmallow will NOT be coming to the Nexus 4, 7 , and 10.
