Facebook has introduced a new feature where the site will now send PGP-encrypted e-mails alerting users about private messages, password changes, and other account notifications.

According to the Verge, some notifications that Facebook will send may be sensitive or involve a sensitive account while encryption will ensure no one can read the content of the messages without the key.

Users who wish to receive encrypted e-mails can upload a public key in the Contact Info section of the About page.

Facebook will also display users' PGP fingerprint as part of the contact info, in case Facebook wants to send encrypted mail.
