2 men try to rob doctor, nabbed

A thief was caught red-handed while the other managed to escape, on trying to rob a doctor in Shahibaugh, late on Thursday night.

The incident occurred near Vijay flats ,the doctor’s residence, under the Shahibaugh police station. 

According to the Shahibaugh police, on Thursday night, Bhavesh Patel, (23), a doctor at the civil hospital was on his way back from a wedding function. When he neared his flat’s entrance, two youth who were following him on a motorbike, rammed into his motorbike. 

After this, the two, Mohsin Sultan Vohra and Mohammed Rafiq alias Danny assaulted Patel and looted his gold chain worth Rs40,000. Mohsin was caught by Patel’s father and other family members when Patel raised an alarm, but Danny managed to escape. The residents then thrashed Mohsin and handed him over to the police.

The Shahibaugh police station, PSI and investigating officer, RS Gamit said, “Police have lodged a case against Mohsin and Rafiq.”  Sources said that sometime back both Rafiq and Mohsin had had an altercation with Patel at a tea stall and the duo was waiting for a chance to take revenge.
