Anokhi Realty, meanwhile, is planning to take its entertainment business to smaller towns. Agarwal said they planned to open two multiplexes soon under the Movieplex brand, one each in Kalol (in Gandhinagar district) and Anand.

Giving reasons for the decision, Agarwal said there were ample business opportunities in the two towns and the company wanted to be the first to tap their business potential.

“Currently, people of Kalol either have to go to R-World, or to Mehsana, if they want to watch a movie in a multiplex,” Agarwal said. “We want to provide them the facility in their own town.”

The company will set up a two-screen multiplex near Chirag Theatre in Kalol. One cinema hall will have the capacity to seat 400, while the other will accommodate
225 people.

The company also plans to set up a multiplex with four screens in Anand. The idea is to tap the large number of students and NRI population in the town, Agarwal said. Each of the four screens will have a capacity to seat around 110 people.

Agarwal further said the multiplex at Kalol will be operational within three months, while that in Anand will take around five months to complete. He refused to divulge investment details of both the projects.
