Congress appears to be still overcoming the shock over the shoe-throwing incident and is keeping prime minister Manmohan Singh away from media persons covering the AICC.

At least, this was the impression of party officials at the AICC briefing on Monday marked by a stray remark of party
spokesman Abhishek Singhvi when asked why Singh was not addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, like
the one he did in Mumbai today.

"He is not sure of your shoes," was Singhvi's remark which left the media fraternity flummoxed.

On whether it was proper for the PM to address a press conference in Mumbai as ministers are not allowed to hold press conferences by the Election Commission, he said, "It is a wrong perception. If a formal notice comes, we will reply to
it fully. PM is part of the Congress party and he can address you from any podium of the party, including this one (AICC)."

At an EC briefing, deputy election commissioner R Balakrishnan merely said "we will see" when asked whether it
was proper for the Prime Minister to hold the press conference in Mumbai.
