Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Monday publicly thanked the Election Commission of India (EC) for granting permission to remaining present at the inauguration of the four factories of Areva T&D India at Kotamba village on the outskirt of the city.
Modi said that his visit to these factories was uncertain for the past seven days and clarification was needed from the EC on whether it amounted to violation of code of conduct, now in force, or not after the announcement of election to the Lok Sabha.
The seven days of correspondence between the company and the EC and the government in this regard, made the point clear and it became possible for him to arrive here for the inauguration function of the factories.
Modi said, "of course, this matter of inauguration of the four factories is connected with the developmental works taken up in the state."
Speaking on the occasion, Modi said Gujarat is going to be surplus state in power in the next couple of years and will be in a position to transmit it to other power required states across the country. In this regard, he said two mega power projects are
likely to be commissioned in the state soon. He, however, refrained from giving other details related to both these power Projects.
