The government has refused to take any immediate measures in case of the junior doctors association's (JDA) stipend issue and in retaliation to this medical students across the state have decided to continue with their strike.

State health commissioner Amarjit Singh on Tuesday asked the students to call off the strike but they refused saying that they regret the patients are getting affected but will continue with the agitation because the government has cheated them.

A member of the JDA told DNA that their request for a raise in the stipend has been rejected. Moreover, the issue has been kept on hold till after the elections under the pretext that the code of conduct has become applicable after the announcement of the election date.

Medical students said that they had been requesting the ministry of health and officials concerned to look into the matter for the last three months.
