Two arrested outlaws escaped from police custody in separate incidents in the city on Thursday. They adopted different methods to make good their escape. Though police have launched a manhunt to nab them, the criminals are still out of their reach.

In the first incident, a Bangladeshi national escaped from the Special
Operation Group (SOG) building on Thursday morning. Mohammed Nazrul Mohammed Murad was arrested by the Isanpur police sometime back for illegally living in the city.

Acting on a tip-off, police had nabbed Murad from Danda Talav area. Sources said Murad escaped from a second floor room in the SOG building. The police found the window panes of the room, in which Murad was lodged, broken on Thursday morning. Sources said Murad broke the window panes and climbed down from the second floor with the help of clothes.

The SOG officials later informed the Ishanpur and the Vejalpur police about the incident. Vejalpur police have interrogated some people in this connection but no headway has been achieved yet.

SOG sources said Murad was arrested on two more occasions in the past for committing theft and pick-pocketing. Around three months back, the Ishanpur police had arrested 54 Bangladeshi in Isanpur area.

The police said many Bangladeshi had been living illegally in city since they landed here in search of livelihood.

In the second incident, an undertrial (UT) escaped from a police van while being taken to Vadodara from Junagadh. Three police personnel were accompanying Jeetha Bhai Keswala, an accused in a double murder case. Sources said when the police van reached Tarapur village near Bagodara, Keswala expressed a desire to relieve himself. A constable took Keswala to a nearby field, where he pushed the constable and ran away. The Bagodara police have launched a hunt to nab the undertrial.
