The business between Mumbai Indians and Bangalore Royal Challengers (BRC) did not end with the swapping of Zaheer Khan and Robin Uthappa. There was one more transaction done between the franchisees. The Mumbai Indians, owned by Mukesh Ambani, have sold young Gaurav Dhiman to Vijay Mallya’s BRC. The exact cost of the sale could not be ascertained but sources in the teams have confirmed to DNA about the second transaction.

Dhiman had played for India in the Junior World Cup. He is known to be a good hard-hitting batsman. He was recruited by Mumbai last year but did not get to play a single match.

Bangalore, however, failed to rope in Punjab pacer VRV Singh. The former India pacer will now stay with the Mohali side. “There has been no exchange of players during the transfer window period for Kings XI Punjab. The franchise is happy with its existing team balance and values its team composition,” a spokesperson for the side said.

Having given Zaheer to Mumbai, BRC were looking for another pacer. However, they could not clinch the deal.

Uthappa, meanwhile, expressed satisfaction over his personal transfer. “I’m happy to be back home. I am looking forward to performing to the best of my abilities for the BRC.
I am confident that the team will do much better than last year,” Uthappa said on the sidelines of the Duleep Trophy game between Central and South zones in Bangalore.

Uthappa believes the biggest thrill of playing for the Bangalore-based team would come when he walks out to bat in front of home fans. “I have never played a big cricket match in front of a home crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. I have missed out on the action at the big games here. Last year I played here for the Mumbai Indians here but now I will be able to play for the home team and will have the full support and backing of the spectators. It will be a great high and will be good fun,” Uthappa added.
