RIL counsel said the questions were specifically intended for use in the gas dispute between RIL and RNRL and were asked during the duration of the case.
RNRL submitted a number of questions and answers asked by members of the parliament to support its case that RIL was free to price its gas as it wants. "Somebody has the gumption to place this (parliamentary questions and answers) in the court!..
Please treat this in the manner it deserves to be treated," Salve requested the Bombay High Court on Thursday.
Salve further alleged that RNRL was not interested in getting cheap gas for its power plants but intends to resell the gas which gets at $2.34 at a higher price to its own power companies such as Reliance Energy.
Interestingly, the Bench, which is examining the MoU between the brothers, asked the RIL counsel if Anil Ambani can sue for damages if MoU cannot be implemented due to legal hurdles. Salve pointed out there is no damages clause in the MoU.
Besides, he said, "you can't sue RIL, because it (MoU) is a private matter (between the brothers)."
