Party candidate in Delhi woos voters during morning walks

NEW DELHI: In an effort to bring a new dawn in Delhi, Vijay Jolly, the Bhartiya Janata Party candidate who is fighting the assembly election against present chief minister Sheila Dikshit, is leaving no stone unturned.

To get a better mileage against Dikshit, Jolly is meeting the high and the mighty at the Lodhi Garden early in the morning when they come to there for morning walk every day. Located in the heart of the New Delhi area, Lodhi Garden is surrounded by residences of senior politicians and bureaucrats who live in the area.

Taking on the present chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Jolly has agreed to fight elections against Dikshit after the BJP high command chose him to lead the fight against the two term chief minister.

Limping across the garden because of his fractured leg, Jolly could be seen every morning meeting morning walkers and asking them to “vote for change” which he and his party is trying to bring in Delhi. Taking a cue from the election campaign of US president Barack Obama, Jolly too could be seen in the morning distributing pamphlets which carry the slogan of vote for change.

Amongst the people who come to the Lodhi Garden every morning for walks, the present chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit is also one of them. She too comes to the same garden every morning with her son to walk and meet her other political contacts.
