GURGAON: What can be termed as the Royal Bengal Clash is a contest between two teams who go in for their tie on Saturday with contrasting momentum.

The Royal Bengal Tigers won their first three matches before being hammered by Ahmedabad Rockets, openers Ryan Campbell (66) and Murray Goodwin (61) helping inflict a 10-wicket drubbing with 48 balls remaining.

Dhaka Warriors lost their opening two outings before scoring an impressive win over Delhi Giants, their 63-run victory coming courtesy their opening pair of Mohammad Nazimuddin (54) and Shariar Nafees (30).

For Mithun Chakraborty’s team, it was the inability to get a big score in the last match that really did them in. Skipper Craig McMillan’s score of 21 was the highest even as Hamish Marshall, Lance Klusener and others failed to make a difference after promising starts. Their total of 131 was never going to be enough, but the Rockets’ openers ensured a quick end.

The Dhaka Warriors, in focus because of the big exodus from Bangladesh, scored the biggest victory in ICL Season II in terms of runs. A target of 174 was not an easy one, but the Delhi team succumbed on the hard pitch thanks to some tight bowling by the Warriors. Mohammad Sharif was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 18 including a twin-strike.

A century from Alok Kapali an earlier match, the performances of their openers and a fairly balanced bowling attack will give Dhaka Warriors some confidence.
