NEW DELHI: Akash Chopra and Virat Kohli were looking good for double centuries as Ranji Trophy champions Delhi took a lead of 263 runs against Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) at lunch on the third day of the Mohammed Nissar Trophy here on Wednesday.

Chopra was batting on 156 and Kohli 176 as Delhi piled up a huge 395 for one in their second innings. SNGPL were all out for 266 in their first innings after bowling out Delhi for a meagre 134 runs on the opening day.

Kohli and Chopra started the day from where they left Tuesday, adding on to the overnight lead of 110 runs. The duo played strokes square off the wicket and scored 349 runs for the second wicket against the hapless SNGPL attack.

SNGPL skipper Mohammed Hafeez introduced himself to break the partnership but his off-breaks proved ineffective. Kohli was severe on him and heaved him for a huge six over mid-on. Hafeez conceded 36 runs from the five overs.

Chopra's knock came in 248 balls that included 18 boundaries while Kohli took 231 balls for his 176, studded with 26 boundaries and a six.
