Mock drill to understand the nuances and implications of the system

AHMEDABAD: A day after the announcement of the open-book system by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), a school in the city tested the effectiveness of the system by organising a mock open-book test.

Sheth C N Vidyalaya, Ambawadi gave its students an idea of the system by arranging a mock open-book test on Tuesday.

Sheth CN Vidyalaya did a small experiment on a group of students from class XI having different academic records.  Hitendra Trivedi, principal of CN Vidyalaya, said, "We are not against the board's decision but we wanted to see how our students can best be benefited out of it."

He said they also wanted to know how their students use text books in such exams and what kind of difficulties they come across.  The test was a part of the school's monthly test that they turned into a mock test.

The question paper was for chemistry and it carried 50 marks.
