The Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) has warned that it will not allow the colleges to display the merit lists for admissions to junior colleges unless the inequality among SSC, ICSE and CBSE students is done away with.

The MNVS workers on Friday demonstrated outside the education director Sheela Tiwari’s office over the issue. “Due to the difference in examination patterns of different boards, ICSE and CBSE students always get more marks than the SSC students. It is obvious that they will be top in the merit list, hence will get priority in admission. We have demanded that a unique system should be implemented, which will measure students’ marks from different boards on an equal scale,” MNVS vice president Sandeep Deshpande said.

Tiwari has assured the MNVS to reply on Monday. She said that a petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court arguing that the current admission system should be continued.

The education department is going to file its reply on the petition on Monday.
