JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM), an organisation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, has asked the state government to withdraw the forms recently circulated among migrants claiming that "unnecessary details" on rehabilitation were being sought from them.

P N Razdan, the president of JKVM said, instead of addressing concerns of the community, the government is asking if the Kashmiri Pandits would like to return to the Valley.

"We have filled umpteen such forms with the relief commissioner giving all the details. So, why are we being asked to repeat the exercise."

"The Prime Minister's package contained two parts- employment and return, but the state government is sabotaging it. The exercise is just an eyewash to skirt the real issue of rehabilitation," he added.

Asking the government to work towards providing security to the community, R L Bhat, the vice-president of JKVM, said authorities should not allow the terrorists to drive out Kashmiri Pandits again once they are rehabilitated.

"We want a secure return to a place in a situation where we can ourselves protect our beings and property as that alone will guarantee that we will not be thrown out again," Bhat said.

He also asked the government to start the process for providing jobs to migrants as announced by the Prime Minister.
