Five-member Indian team for World Race Walking Cup

A five-member athletics team will represent India in the IAAF World Race Walking Cup, a qualifying event for the Beijing Olympics, to be held in Cheboksary (Russia) on May 10 and 11.

NEW DELHI: A five-member athletics team will represent India in the IAAF World Race Walking Cup, a qualifying event for the Beijing Olympics, to be held in Cheboksary (Russia) on May 10 and 11.

The athletes will participate in the 50 km walk event.

The qualifying marks for the Beijing Olympics in 50 km walk events are 4:00.00 (A Standard) and 4:07.00 (B Standard), the Athletics Federation of India said in a statement.

The team consists of athletes Chandan Singh, Babubhai Kesharabhai Panucha, Harminder Singh, Parayil Surendran Jalan, Basanta Bahadur Rana.

The athletes have been coached by Nikolai Snesarev, Harmana Ram.
