ADELAIDE: Irfan Pathan Sunday became only the seventh Indian and 50th player overall to complete the 'double' of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in Test cricket.

The left-arm pacer, staging a successful comeback to the Test team, captured his 100th wicket by having Brett Lee caught behind on the fourth day of the fourth Test against Australia here. He had scored 1,000 runs in Tests before this match.

Before Pathan, the legendary Vinoo Mankad, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Harbhajan Singh have accomplished the 'double'.

Pathan, 23, has become the 16th Indian bowler to have bagged 100 wickets or more in Tests.

Pathan took three for 112 to help India bowl Australia out for 563, though he could not prevent the hosts from taking a 37-run first-innings lead. India scored 526 in their first innings and were 45 for one wicket in their second at stumps on the penultimate day at the Adelaide Oval.

The Baroda player now has a tally of 1,041 runs, including one century and six half-centuries. With his left-arm swing bowling, Pathan has bagged seven five-wicket hauls and has twice captured 10-wicket hauls in a match.
