Sixth Pay Commission report will be good for employees: Maken

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Sunday promised that the sixth pay commission report would be 'good' for the employees as government is keen to provide comprehensive salary packages to attract quality human resource.
   
"The Sixth Pay Commission report will be good for the employees. We do not want efficient employees to leave government services to join the private sector," Union Minister for Urban Development (State) Ajay Maken said on Sunday.
   
Maken said both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram want to provide 'comprehensive and good salary packages' to employees as for good governance efficiency of the employees is paramount.
  
He said the report would be ready by March 31 next year.
  
"Both Prime Minister and Finance Minister want to provide comprehensive and good salary packages to the Central government employees," he said addressing a function organized by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation.
    
Maken said Chidambaram wants to give salary and compensation packages to the 'maximum extent'. (Chidambaram Dil Khol ke dena chahte hei).
     
"Personally, I think it should be at par with the Multi National Companies as attracting quality manpower is very important for efficiency in governance," the Urban Development
Minister said.
     
The Government in July last year gave its approval for setting up the Sixth Pay Commission for Central government employees.
     
The Fifth Pay Commission was formed in April 1994 and submitted its report in January 1997.
     
The financial impact of the Fifth Pay Commission was Rs 17,000 crore.
