SHIMLA: The higher reaches of Kullu valley experienced heavy snowfall on Saturday and rain lashed Shimla plumetting the temperature.
   
Heavy snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of Kullu valley including the picturesque town of Manali since this morning.
   
A report from Manali said the intensity of snowfall was heavy in Rohtang Pass which recorded more than two feet of snow.
    
Accumulation of snow resulted in closure of the road to Lahual and Spiti, the report said adding lower areas of Kullu and Manali experienced rains in the day.
    
Downpour in Shimla caused the temperature to drop by almost by 5 degree celsius. The state capital had a maximum day temperature of 10.1 Deg C in comparison to 15.4 Deg C on Thursday, met office sources said.
   
The met office forecast rain and snow at isolated places in the hill state in the next 24 hours.
   
Met office Director Manmohan Singh attributed the sudden change in weather condition in the hill state to western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring areas.
