FM donates land to Khadi Commission

FM P Chidambaram donated 30 acres of his land in native Kandanur village to Khadi and Village Industries Commission for setting up 'Kadhar Complex'.

SIVAGANGA: Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Sunday donated 30 acres of his land in native Kandanur village near here to Khadi and Village Industries Commission's Sarvodhaya Sangh for setting up 'Kadhar Complex'.
   
Speaking at the function here, the Minister said he was donating the land, which he had inherited from his parents, on behalf of his father.
   
He asked all salaried-class people to spend at least five per cent of their pay to buy khadi products like soap, towel or shampoo.
   
He said KVIC would set up Marketing Centres at Tirupattur, Karaikudi and Devakottai for khadi products.
   
The minister also inaugrated two class rooms built from MP's fund at a cost of Rs five lakh at SMS Higher Secondary School, Karakudi.
