CHENNAI: The monsoon session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, which begins on Wednesday, is likely to be stormy with the opposition AIADMK set to take on the DMK Government on various issues including the controversy over Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's anti-Ram remarks on the Ram Setu.

Five Bills, including those to replace the ordinances promulgated to provide 3.5 per cent reservation for minorities and amend the local body acts to restrict the use of 'no-confidence motion' against the elected heads of the local bodies, will be introduced and passed during the session.

The government's new industrial policy may also be unveiled during the session which is expected to be brief.

The assembly is also expected to adopt a resolution demanding the early completion of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel project.

Debates and fiery exchange of words are also expected between the treasury and opposition benches on the issues including the Supreme Court's strictures against the government for reportedly not complying with its order on October 1 bandh, and the controversy over construction of buildings in alleged violation of rules in Kodanadu tea estate in which AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa is a partner.

The PMK, a vociferous critic among the DMK's Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) allies, will also express its opposition to acquisition of farmlands for setting up Special Economic Zones and IT parks.
