Mazher Sayed on playing hubby to vamps on screen and beloved Mouli Ganguly
Mazher Sayed’s character Samar in ‘Saat Phere’ (Zee) is currently the talking point of the show as he has discovered the treachery of his onscreen wife Kaveri ( Aanchal Dwivedi). While Mazher is visibly enjoying this phase, he wonders why he is often paired opposite vamps.
He laughs as he says, “Even in ‘Kahiin Kissi Roz’ I was playing the anguished husband of the vamp. But I console myself saying that I won’t get one in real life!”
That brings us to his co-star and real-life love Mouli Gangluy. Mazher says apprehensively, “I don’t like talking about my personal life. Everyone knows that we’re seeing each other for the past five years and that’s that.”
Coax him a little and he says, “After many years of knowing someone, you start liking everything about him or her. I like her for the fact that she has accepted me the way I am.
Moreover, the trust and bonding we share, without having to compromise on our individual space, is what I treasure the most.” He adds, “That we practise different religions does not matter because differences can arise despite belonging to the same caste too. It’s the common binding force, which is important.”
Coming back to his career, isn’t it time he got his due as the solo lead? Mazher admits, “It has. But at least ‘Saat Phere’ gives me the scope to perform. In other shows, the lead character is the sun while the character artistes are like the planets revolving around it.”
He adds, “ Similarly, I have nothing to complain about my role in ‘Kahanii Ghar Ghar Ki’ (Star Plus) either. But I sure would like to do meatier roles.”
