HAJIPUR: In yet another instance of people taking law into its hands, ten people were bludgeoned to death on suspicion of being thieves at a village in Bihar's Vaishali district early on Thursday.

One person was also left critically injured after some villagers of Dhelpurwa beat the suspected thieves in the wee hours, police said. Further details were awaited.

The victims were yet to be identified.

In a shocking reminder of the infamous Bhagalpur blinding of 1980s, a mob had pierced and gouged out the eyes of three young men who had snatched away a motorcycle in Nawada district on Monday.

A person who had allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman was severely beaten up a mob, tied to a motorcycle and dragged for some distance by the police at Bhagalpur last month.
