107 motorists sentenced for drunken driving

MUMBAI: As many as 107 motorists booked for driving in inebriated condition were sentenced on Monday to simple imprisonment terms by courts here, making it the highest number of people jailed for drunken driving in a single day.

The maximum imprisonment term will be for six days, the traffic police said here.
   
Their driving licenses were also suspended by the courts for a maximum of six months, they said.

The police drive against drunken driving came in the wake of several road accidents invloving drunk drivers in the metropolis.
