Jail break escapee beaten to death in Bihar

An undertrial, who had escaped from Jehanabad jail was beaten to death by villagers of Amsara late on Saturday night in Bihar's Jehanabad district.

JEHANABAD: An undertrial, who had escaped from Jehanabad jail during a naxal attack on the jail two years ago, was beaten to death by villagers of Amsara late on Saturday night in Bihar's Jehanabad district, police said.

Chander Mochi had escaped when naxalites had attacked the jail on the night of November 13, 2005 and had gone to Amsara village to threaten the witnesses of a case pending against him.

Police said Mochi also opened fire in order to terrorise the witnesses follwing which the villagers chased him and later thrashed him to death.

Mochi's wife Sunaina Devi filed an FIR against eight people alleging that her husband had been killed under a conspiracy.

Out of eight named, five had been arrested, police said.
