BANGALORE: The UPA government may collapse leading to early Lok Sabha elections in the wake of continued stand off between Congress and Left Parties over the nuclear deal with US, two front ranking BJP leaders said on Sunday.

M Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj, launching the party's campaign in parts of Karnataka as part of the party's nationwide drive, asked their partymen to gear up for Lok Sabha polls.

"You must be ready for any eventuality as anything may happen anytime. The UPA government may collapse. It may prolong or may continue as a lame duck government", Naidu said addressing party workers at a function in Bangalore.

Flaying policies pursued by UPA Government, Naidu said the Congress and Communists were in a 'catch 22' situation and neither side was following the 'coalition dharma'.

Swaraj, participating in the same programme at Belgaum, told her partymen "the government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lose power and early elections will be held to Lok Sabha".

She asked party workers to reach every house in the state and strive to maintain the "pro-BJP wave" in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, speaking to the mediapersons, Swaraj defended senior party leader L K Adavani's talks with CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat seeking support to defeat the UPA government on the floor of Lok Sabha on the nuclear issue saying "it is due to number game".

BJP would oppose the nuke deal in and outside Parliament, she said.
