JALANDHAR: The CPI on Thursday appealed to Akal Takht, the highest spiritual and temporal seat of Sikhs, to withdraw 'hukumnama' (edict) against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh for the sake of maintaining communal harmony and peace in Punjab.
   
"The hukumnama, which instructs social boycott of Dera followers, has created unrest in Punjab and it is against the spirit of Guru Granth Sahib which preaches love for every
human being," CPI national committee member Joginder Dyal told reporters here.
   
"It is in the interest of Punjab that supreme body of Sikhs, Akal Takht, should withdraw the hukumnama," he said adding even the central government should also intervene to
resolve the issue once for all.
   
Training gun on the state government, Dyal said graph of popularity of ruling alliance has sharply declined within four months and now people wanted to get rid of the same.
