The ousted contestant apparently declined to continue after the scriptwriter she recommended was not approved of

Ketki Dave, who was ousted from the reality show ‘Comedy Circus’ (Sony) in the second round, was offered an opportunity to re-enter it. As per the format, other ousted contestants—Varun Badola, Kiran Karmarkar and Swapnil Joshi along with their respective partners—are allowed to re-enter the show and make one more attempt at performing the stand-up act.

Apparently, two out of the four ousted contestants would stay in the show and compete with the existing three pairs.

However, Ketki Dave refused to continue in the show. Although it is being said that Ketki couldn’t give time for rehearsals and that she didn’t want to fail again, it is speculated that the real reason for her refusal is that the scriptwriter Dilip Rawal (well-known in the Gujarat art circle) whom she recommended was not roped in.

A source in the production house says, “In the episode that Ketki and her co-participant Pratap Faujdar got voted out, Pratap had referred to the script written by his friend. Ketki felt that she was voted out because of adhering to that script. Hence, when she was called for a re-entry she suggested that Dilip Rawal would write her scripts. However, when that wasn’t approved, Ketki had to decide otherwise.”

When contacted, Ketki maintained that she left the show because she couldn’t make herself do the stand-up act. She says, “It is a different art. I wasn’t good at it. Plus, you need to share chemistry with your partner. How can I strike chemistry with someone whom I barely know since a few weeks? I wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I didn’t want to cheat the audience by carrying on.”

When asked about the script issues, Ketki admitted that she wasn’t comfortable with the scripts provided by the channel but denied it being the reason for her discontinuing the show. When asked about Dilip, she says, “I was not happy with the scripts given to me. Pratap was comfortable with it because it’s his expertise.

But since this is a team effort, they needed to think of me. I had recommended Dilip’s name but he wasn’t approved. I thought Dilip would be ideal for writing scripts for me because we have worked together. I believe he could give me lines that would suit me. However, his disapproval isn’t the reason for my discontinuing.”

Producer Vipul D Shah too denied Dilip’s exclusion to do anything with her refusal.
