Now, bahus storm NDTV Imagine!

Dheeraj Kumar’s family drama is likely to launch on NDTV and not on Star Plus as  earlier planned

Actor-producer Dheeraj Kumar’s family drama titled ‘Bahu Beti - Babul Ki Dulari’ was reportedly to be launched on Star Plus. However, it is learnt that the serial has run into some problems because of which it would now be telecast on NDTV’s soon-to-be launched entertainment channel Imagine.         

A source says, “The officials at Star Plus, who had approved the serial, have moved to Imagine. The new officials, who have taken over, didn’t approve of the show. Thus it had been languishing for sometime. It is very unlikely that it will air on Star Plus. Instead, it is highly probable that the show will air on Imagine.”    

When asked about ‘Bahu Beti’ airing on Imagine, Dheeraj says, “We have shot about 10 episodes. It is on hold at the moment,” adding, “There have been several changes in the management at Star recently.” But when asked if the show would be airing on Imagine, he refuted it. Dheeraj is currently producing ‘Ghar Ki Lakshmi Beityaan’ and ‘Maayka’ (both on Zee) amongst others.

‘Bahu Beti’ is a family drama with Romit Raj (Yuvraj of ‘Beityaan’) and Amruta Subhash (seen in Zee Marathi shows and also played a social worker in the Oscar nominated Marathi film ‘Shwas’) in the lead. The show opens with a wedding scene, which was extravagantly shot in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The pooja sequence that follows the wedding is another scene to look out for. Apparently, more than 60 boats were used to shoot the scene in mid-waters. Star officials were not available for  comments.
