JAIPUR: Claiming that a number of innocent people of their community were killed in the police firing during the ST quota agitation, the Gujjar organisation spearheading it has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

"At least 28 innocent people were killed and several Gujjar houses were burnt during the violence and police firing," All India Gurjar Sangarsh Samiti convenor Kirori Singh Bhainsla said addressing a press conference here and demanded that the Rajasthan government recommend a CBI inquiry into the incident or the Centre take a suo motu action.

Apart from the compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased, the Gujjar leader also demanded a Rs one lakh each to the injured in the violence and a government job for a member of each deceased family.

Bhainsla said his organisation will organise "Gujjar Samman rally" in Delhi in November.

Earlier, talking to reporters, a spokesman of Gujjar Sangharsh Samiti said that a solution to their demand could be possible only if there was political will.
