E-mail threatens to blow up World Trade Centre

According to police officials, the threat was recieved on Saturday at 4.17PM, and subsequently security in and around the complex has been tightened.

An e-mail threatening to blow up Mumbai's commercial hub, World Trade Centre, was recieved on Saturday evening.

Following the the threat, which was sent through an e-mail to SR Jadhav, senior manager of the WTC, the security in and aroud the commercial complex has been stepped up.

According to the Cuffe Parade police officials, under whose jurisdiction the Centre falls, the threat was recieved on Saturday at 4.17PM, and subsequently security in and around the complex has been tightened.

"Though, we have been maintaining a strict vigil in and around the complex, in view of the fresh threat, we have beefed up the security further," the official said. The source of threat mail is being probed, the official added.

This is the second time that the Centre has received such a threat. Earlier, on May 24, both the police and WTC management had received anonymous phone calls and a letter saying the Centre would be bombed.
