Kangana Ranaut is in trouble again. The actor, who shot into limelight through films like Gangster and Metro, had to spend at least 16 hours at the Sahar airport, where she was supposed to leave for Dubai.

Ranaut was to inaugurate a jewellery shop in Dubai. But she did not, thanks to immigration officials, who cited technical reasons for not clearing her trip. Sources said Ranaut was to take the 7pm Emirates flight to Dubai. But her visa required Emigration Check which she had overlooked and was detected at the immigration counter. An argument ensued, but the immigration officials stuck to their stand.

“Ranaut did not have ECNR(Emigration Clearance not Required) and clearance from Protector of Immigrants. But we did not have a fight because Ranaut knew that she was at fault,” said an immigration source. He said the actor was “advised by her close aides” to take the 5.30 am flight to London, en route to Dubai. “In that case she could get down in Dubai and take a one-day transit visa for Dubai,” said a source. That move, he said, infuriated immigration officials, who reportedly threatened Emirates officials. The officials have allegedly told Emirates officials they would not allow the take-off if they took the actor on-board. Ranaut had to return home.

DCP (Immigration), Raj Vardhan said, “I don’t give answers to queries on individual passengers.”

But Ranaut spoke to DNA on Wednesday, “Yes, my plans were aborted. It was a 16- hour ordeal. I went to the airport at 3 pm on Tuesday and returned next morning. Yes, it’s true that my visa to Dubai did not have immigration clearance. But I was not told about it by those who arranged the visa. I don’t blame immigration officials. They were doing their duty. What shocked me was that they even stopped me from boarding  the morning flight to London though I had a valid visa,” said Ranaut. “It’s wrong on their part to assume that I’ll get off from the London-bound flight in Dubai. I had plans to visit London, for which I had a clear visa.
