AMETHI: Priyanka Gandhi is arriving here on Friday on a two-day visit to oversee poll campaigning in Amethi, her brother Rahul's constituency.

During her stay, Priyanka will hold meetings with party workers and oversee electioneering in all the five assembly segments falling under the Lok Sabha constituency, Congress sources said today.

She will apprise Congress activists about party's poll strategy in the constituency going to hustings in the fifth phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on April 28.

Earlier, Priyanka had successfully handled election campaigns in Amethi and Sonia Gandhi's Rae Bareli constituency.

Priyanka will be accompanied by her husband Robert Vadra.

Though Amethi is a pocketborough of the Gandhi family, the Congress has not fared well in the assembly polls.

The sources said Priyanka, known for her organisational skills, is coming here to activate party cadres ahead of April 28 voting.

Priyanka, visiting the constituency after 16 months, will have to pacify a section of Congress workers apparently unhappy with the choice of party candidates, they said.

The Congress has fielded Amita Singh (Amethi), Mohd Naeem (Gauriganj), Ram Sewak Dhobi (Jagdihspur), Shiv Balak Pasi (Salon) and Dr Muslim (TiloiI) from the five assembly seats falling under Amethi's constituency.
